We’re the place to be at Humble Bee Farm!
Humble Bee is a working farm in the peaceful Yorkshire Wolds, close to Scarborough, with a variety of camping, glamping and cottages for you to stay in. You can stay with us and watch Farmer Percy on his rounds, looking after the farmyard gang, including pigs, cows, sheep, hens and ducks.
We love having families stay with us, and did you know that under-2s can stay with us, here at the place to be for FREE, all year round!
And as an additional gift for our glamping guests, for all Humble Bee Wigwams there’s a fabulous 3 nights for the price of 2 nights offer. Book your wigwam now to get 1 night for FREE! Available in Big Chief Wigwams & Deluxe Wigwams, the offer will be applied to any bookings in May, June, July (up to the 19th), September (from the 2nd), October, November & December! This is for Sunday-Thursday stays only and does not include Friday or Saturday nights.
Or if you’d prefer a family friendly luxury cottage to stay in, receive a FREE Yorkshire Family Hamper on arrival! Enjoy a Yorkshire Hamper full of local produce whilst on your stay at Humble Bee! Bookings must be made in May or June 2018. This offer will even include bookings made for 2019! Away from the farm we also have a family friendly holiday apartment on the seafront in Filey, St Kitts, and the hamper offer applies to bookings made there too.
Our self-catering accommodation here at Humble Bee includes en-suite Running Water Deluxe Wigwam® Cabins (with private wood fired hot tubs), Big Chief Wigwam® Cabins, Nomadic Yurts, luxury cottages (two with outdoor hot tubs) and a campsite. We are paw-fect for pooches (except in the Yurts; tariff applies) and cool for kids – we have a play area onsite and little ones can even find a fresh egg for tea!
As well as our farmyard gang, we’ve got some fabulous nature walks and if you stay with us during peak times, there’s an exciting programme of Nature Events lined up for kids of all ages. The wildlife around the farm is incredible and we often spot hares, barn owls, skylarks and deer in our fields and pastures.
In May 2018, we are also opening our brand new Nature Trail, which includes lots of exciting nuggets of information that will educate and enthral all guests.
We have a reception and small onsite shop that stocks essentials such as bread, milk, bacon, eggs at busy times; there is also some pocket-money-priced souvenirs so everyone can take a little bit of Humble Bee home with them after their stay.
Nearby there are the coastal resorts of Scarborough, Filey and Whitby, where donkey rides, sandcastles and ice creams are the order of the day.
Farmer Percy is one of our star attractions as he is the boss of the busy working farm here at Humble Bee. You’ll often see him on his tractor or buggy, keeping an eye on his cattle, sheep and pigs and making sure his crops grow and flourish.
Our hens, which are another star attraction, have their own chicken run, where they lay some delicious, golden-yoked eggs from time to time. If there’s lots of clucking going on, you know when our ladies are busy! Our Texel sheep, including this year’s lambs, are now in the fields, nibbling on the fresh spring grass. As the weather warms up, their woolly coats will be sheared off so they can keep cool over the summer months. As well as our new small herd of heritage breed belted galloway cattle, the rest of the herd are also out in the open fields and enjoying endless grazing as the grass grows under the warmth of the sun.
If you want to go along and see what Humble Bee Farm is like they are having a free family open day on Sunday 24th June with lots of children’s activities including the sheep show! Find all details on the Mumbler events calendar here.
Join us at the place to be for a lovely relaxed break on a working farm this spring and summer, watch the crops turn golden and see how our farmers not only rear livestock but also help keep Mother Nature ticking over nicely.
