Can you spare some time each week to help the NSPCC?
Hi everybody, and happy half term!
Although we wanted to start this year on a positive note, here we are in February 2021 facing very similar problems to the ones we faced throughout most of last year.
Two of the biggest problems the NSPCC has faced in the last 12 months, have been an increase in the amount of children and young people contacting our Childline service coupled with a 40% drop in the number of volunteers able to give their time and energy to support us.
If you live near one of our Childline bases, then all we ask for is four hours a week to support children and young people in their darkest hours – you’ll receive full training and incredible support from your fellow volunteers and Childline staff, and you can find out more about the service at www.nspcc.org.uk
But if you don’t have four hours a week to spare, or you don’t live near one of our Childline bases, we’re also looking for anyone with just a little social media experience to take part in a series of new volunteer roles to help us reach new people and communities using the internet’s greatest tool – and one you’re probably already using!
To be a Social Media Champion you don’t have to know anything about coding, internet development or the mechanics of social media – all you’ll need is enthusiasm for the NSPCC’s cause, the ability to use social media, and a little time each week to share our work and details about our events.
It might not sound like much, but every post you share helps spread the word about the excellent work our fundraisers, Childline and helpline counsellors and child service practitioners are doing, to new people and groups who might not otherwise be aware.
More than that, a post you share might encourage someone to go online and find out more about how they can help us make 2021 a better year for children.
Whether they’re taking a few minutes sharing our social media work, sparing a few hours training to support Childline, donating a few pounds or signing their name to support one of our campaigns, it all helps, and it will all be because you took a few minutes to share a post on social media.
