Double double toil and trouble: Spooktacular Halloween
Double double toil and trouble: Spooktacular Halloween fun at not one, but two of North Yorkshire’s top attractions
Fancy (dress) some spooky half term fun this Halloween? Then look no further…
Two of North Yorkshire’s top visitor attractions have teamed up to offer you the chance to trick or treat yourself to a return family visit in 2021 when you show your ghoulish costumes this Halloween Half Term Sat 24th Oct – Sun 1st Nov.
The North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) and Whitby Abbey have joined forces to offer a spooktacular day out this half term.
Enjoy an atmospheric steam hauled trip on the NYMR’s Optimist service, two daily services travelling direct from Pickering to Whitby, dressed in your best fancy dress. Hop off in Whitby and head to the Abbey for a few hours of Halloween fun, including a creepy trail and spooky stories, then jump back on the train to Pickering to round off the trip.
Any guests that visit the Railway and the Abbey in fancy dress, share a #spookyselfie and tag in both attractions on social media, could be in with the chance to win not one, but two family days out in 2021.
The attractions will pick their favourite spooky selfie and the winner will receive a free family pass to revisit both destinations next year.
Laura Strangeway, Head of Marketing at NYMR, said: “We’re really excited to team up with Whitby Abbey to offer visitors double the spooky fun this Halloween. We just love seeing the railway decked out for the spookiest time of the year and can’t wait to see our visitors in their creepy costumes! We really appreciate the support our loyal guests have shown during the pandemic months, and wanted to offer something back; so don those ghoulish costumes, snap a selfie and visit two of our county’s top attractions for heaps of Halloween fun this half term!”
Mark Williamson, Regional Property Manager, Whitby Abbey said: “The unique feel in Whitby’s streets, the curious tales associated with the town and of course the Dracula connection always combine to make Halloween a special time of year in Whitby. As usual, the Abbey will be the focal point of celebrations with lots of Halloween fun for young and old. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is an excellent family attraction – and an excellent stress free way to reach Whitby – and we are delighted to be working with them again to help visitors and locals alike enjoy a half term full of spooky family fun.”
The competition runs from Saturday 24th October – Sunday 1st November. Pre-booking is essential at both attractions, to book visit NYMR and English Heritage websites.
So if you’ve got it, haunt it, by sharing your spooky fancy dress selfies on your day out in North Yorks this half term.
