Whilst the kids have enjoyed the snow the ‘Beast from the East’ has brought, we need to spare a thought for wildlife. The RSPB has warned that birds will struggle to cope with the plummeting temperatures and urges people to give them a helping hand by providing food and shelter. On Thursday you may have seen that we made a bird feeder and popped it on Instagram. It was quick and easy, albeit a bit messy! We used lard and wild bird seed mixed together (we had the cup and saucer from a previous bird feeder that the birds had finished so we filled it up…easy to bolt together though if you fancy getting the drill out?! or could put on a string too but use more lard and put in fridge to “set” before trying to hang up). The kids loved it and are looking forward to seeing the birds come into our garden.
If you’re looking for indoor activities this weekend why don’t you build a bottle bird feeder, it can be quick and easy when you know how. It will definitely create some fun.
Follow the simple step-by-step guide.
