Morrisons’ Colleagues walk the Cinder Track for Young Lives Vs Cancer
Over the last few years Morrison’s has partnered with Young Lives vs Cancer formally known as CLIC Sargent, together we’ve raised over £15 million to help children, young people and their families facing cancer across the country:
This year is the final year of Morrison’s partnership withYoung Lives vs Cancer, with all the money we raise going towards building ‘Jack’s House’ — a new Home from Home in Manchester that will provide free accommodation for young cancer patients and their families during their treatment at the nearby Christie hospital.
We have teamed up with colleagues from Scarborough, Malton Bridlington, York Foss Islands, and Stores within our East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire Region to raise as many funds as possible. On the 14th July we will be walking the Cinder Track from Whitby to Scarborough, all 21.5 miles of it.
“Everyone is looking forward to taking part and we are all doing it because having worked closely with the charity for the last 4 years we believe that they do so much for so many families in our area that we wanted to give something back.”
The team are aged from 20 years to 63 years old. Plus we have support vehicles which will meet us at various check points to allow us to top up with water and to apply blister plasters if needed!
Young Lives vs Cancer help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. We have both children and grandchildren so are keen to give back.
From Scarborough we have, Ellie, Marie C, Marie P, Mikey, Paul, Chris, Alan, Nicola, Liz, Susan, Stuart, Tracey, Elly, Caitlyn, Chelsea and Ed. From Malton we have Kathryn, Bridlington we have Steph and Charmaine.
The Cinder Track is a wonderful walk and we are really looking forward to it to tackling it from Whitby to Scarborough. We are normally so busy in store and it is great to get out and do something for charity. Please do support us where you can. We are just hoping that it is not too hot and preferably dry!
