National Breastfeeding week 25th June – 2nd July
This year focuses on “Protect not promote” so what does that mean to you?
To me it means Protect those that choose to feed in public, did you know it’s illegal to ask someone to stop breastfeeding in the UK?, we have laws to protect us yet we still feel nervous to feed!
Seek out breastfeeding friendly places, don’t be afraid to ask if there is somewhere quiet you can feed in if you feel nervous.
Seek out support, we have local peer support groups here in Scarborough that can offer friendly tips and somewhere you can grow in confidence surrounded by other breastfeeding mums.
By breastfeeding your baby you are not only enriching your baby with a tailor made food, and reaping benefits for yourself, you are enabling other families to see that breastfeeding is a normal part of society and should be encouraged and supported.
