It is a month until race day! Wow this has been a long time coming. I am pretty nervous!! But hopefully it will be alright on the day….it is approaching pretty quick now!
I first found out I had a place in the Ernest Cooper Macmillan Cancer Support #Rideoftheirlives at York Racecourse in December 2019. Since then we have lived through a pandemic, lockdowns and numerous months of home schooling. As a result the training and fundraising has been somewhat interrupted! However, with things a bit more normal, the fundraising has picked up and I am proud of my running total, I just hope I can make it above £20,000 now. When I set out, I set an ambitious target of £15,000 and just hoped to make it. To now have £20,000 in sight, is amazing. I am blown away by the support from family, friends and other sponsors. I appreciate your support and hope I can make you proud on race day. Most importantly, I am thrilled to have raised such an amazing amount of money for such an important cause. Macmillan Cancer Support have continued through this difficult times to provide support to those that need them – thank you.
My training is picking up pace, I am riding out at Tim Easterby’s approx. 4 times a week. I won’t lie, I love it! This is being juggled with school holidays and work. When I am unable to ride out, I run around the roads of Westow. I will be honest, I much prefer riding out to running! In fact, running is not really my cup of tea but I am doing my best to get as fit as I can! Even this week whilst, working at the yearling sales at Goffs UK, I have been running every morning. I am also attending Jack Berry House for jockey training once a week with Russ Garrity. This is hard…..hopefully my partner on the day is more willing than the plastic equisizer!
I am sorting out my raceday kit including the race breeches which are kindly sponsored by Russells (Kirkbymoorside) Ltd, Eden Search & Select, Tong Garden Centre and Pockmor Ltd with my neck sponsored by GWE Biogas. Big thank you for their support and the help from White Rose Saddlery.
I had two days at the Ebor Festival at York Races last week which certainly brought it home that race day was fast approaching….eek! It was a great week, made better by how well Tim’s horses ran. Lets hope they continue in the same form until the end of the season.
