We have recently visited Piglets Adventure Farm and what fun we had! It is approx 45 mins to an hours drive from Scarborough depending on the dreaded A64. Handy for those on their way to or from the Coast or to meet friends from the West Riding.
We met a friend with 3 children so in total we were 2 adults and 5 children aged 2 to 6 years. It caters perfectly for this age range and at no time was one at a lose end or not able to join in.
The story of my life, I was a touch late! So, Hannah had gone in and enjoyed the Pig Racing and a good bounce on the bouncy pillows – they have a large one and a small one side by side, split by age so the big kids aren’t squashing the little ones.
By the time we arrived, it was lunchtime and the clouds were darkening so we took the short tractor and trailer ride to “The Bale Play Baaarn” seeing pigs and a cow & calf on the way. Here, adults can get a coffee and everyone can enjoy a fresh wood-fired pizza or your own picnic. This includes an indoor play area – catering for the British weather! Some great slides, straw bales, ride on’s, rope swings and a giant sand pit. Fully sustained and having had a good play, it was back on the tractor and trailer to the main park.
Our gang were keen to do the Fairy Trail which is fun and perfect for little legs! The animals were next, great timing….it was feeding time! (There is a separate petting time too.) The children get to feed all the animals in the barn – the goats even had a little fight in the middle! The tortoises were out, two sets of piglets on show (one litter a week old and the other 3 weeks), guinea pigs with some as young as a day old and kouni kouni pigs! There is a lovely walk round where you can see the sheep, Highland Cattle, Shetland Ponies, Alpacas and Donkeys.
There was loads more to do: play equipment, water wars, crazy golf, barrel rides, go karts, ride on tractor’s, giant sand pit and the maize! We set up camp, had an ice cream and the kids played around us – it was lovely and relatively stress free (given we had 5 kids with us!). The Maize is great fun for all ages. The go karts were great fun – we went on at the end when most people were heading off. This was a perfect time and meant they really got going. More two seater go karts would be good though! We also left the crazy golf to the end as well which was a great move as all had a thoroughly good go and loved it!
The Water Wars was a massive hit with Henry, particularly as he befriended a couple of boys his age in the queue to “fight / soak”. We got £1 voucher for the Water Wars at the entrance which is one bucket full of water balloons. The Foam Party looked awesome, all the kids partook in the warm up dance and music but missed the foam. which was a shame. A spare set of clothes is probably a good idea.
We had a great time and all kids played their hearts out, 3 were asleep before they got out the gates! We could have stayed longer, it truly can be a full day out (Adult £8.95, child £9.95, under 1’s FREE – book online for a £1 discount per ticket). To save a few pennies, we took a picnic as there is loads of space to enjoy it. We then bought coffees and ice creams. There are plenty of food outlets though if you wish.
Summer fun runs to 3rd September with all the fun described above plus amazing magic shows and incredible circus acrobatics, you won’t want to miss it!
