From the Greek word doula meaning servant of a woman
Doulas are there for women and families during pregnancy, birth and beyond, depending on the families needs.
A doula is someone who offers a continuous care, knowledge and practical help to a women, she does not replace the role of a midwife, she can not advise but she can offer information for the families to make their own choices, she will stay completely impartial and follow their lead and wishes.
Some women hire a doula just for the birth others want support in pregnancy and after delivery too. A doula will work to the families needs.
