Meet St Nicholas and Lady Winter in their Yuletide grottos this Christmas.
11th, 12th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd December 2021 at 12.00, 1.30, 3.00 and 4.30pm (3pm & 4.30pm sessions go on the trail first). Dress warmly, and gather, in the Northwood kitchen courtyard or in the courtyard marquee 15 minutes before the start time.
Our St Nicholas mirrors the Father Christmas of the past: a wandering storyteller, miracle-worker and a protector of children, bringing light, generosity, abundance and celebration to the dark months of winter. He is one of the fairy folk: the Holly King, clothed all in green and crowned in evergreens and ivy. Lady Winter, his female counterpart, is the introspective part of winter. In her grotto, experience the beauty in the barrenness of winter, which she tells us brings an opportunity to rest, to be still and to dream. She shows us the gift of silence and inner strength that can be found find in the cold and solitude winter brings.
Please be aware, if you are looking for a red Santa Claus this isn’t it! This Christmas event will be an atmospheric Christmas of stories, lanterns and imagination. (Children won’t receive a toy but something more meaningful and symbolic instead, a wishing stone as well as chocolate coin. )
Table of 3 – £84 (£28pp), 4 – £104 (£26pp), 5 – £120 (£24pp). Please see their website for full Ts & Cs, Covid-19 policies and cancellation policies.
Sat 13th November 2021 to Sun 2nd January 2022

Grue: A new magical alternative Christmas adventure is coming to the Old Parcels Office in Scarborough this December.
Grue takes its name from an historic word for snow or shiver, and is a walk-through experience taking families on a festive journey through forest, town, sea and sky. There will be plenty to marvel at and discover through this interactive wonderland, and you’ll even get your own paper decoration to build yourself!
Built by the community and made entirely out of recycled and repurposed materials, the project sends out a clear message about what is possible with a bit of imagination and old packaging materials, which are plentiful around Christmas.
Entry to Grue is ‘Pay what you can’, meaning everyone is able to book a ticket and experience the piece if they want to. Each slot will take 15-20 minutes and you can book a group of up to 6 people per slot. There will also be refreshments available at the end of the installation.
Grue will be open on Weekends from 3pm and Thursday’s from 4pm throughout December with extra days on 20th and 21st from 3pm

When a tree is harvested, another is planted in its place, ensuring the production of our trees is entirely sustainable. Annual members of Scampston Walled Garden are entitled to a 10% discount on their Christmas tree.
