In continuing our celebration of the year of the dog, we will be hosting a summer dog festival. With plenty to entertain all the family, and of course our canine visitors too! Join us on the 11th & 12th August for a packed programme of dog themed events.

The ‘Incredibly Clever Canine Circus’ will be on hand to assist you in bringing out the performer in your dog. Take part in a 45 min training session which will finish with a 5 – 10 minute show in which your dog will perform to the visiting public!

Ryedale Dog Rescue will be running a Family Dog Show, with prizes being awarded for categories including Best in Show, and Most Handsome Hound.

‘Hounds With Hannah’ will be performing a gun dog display during the day, and also running a drop in Dog Clinic to advise on any of your dog related queries.

Don’t miss the chance to have a go at an agility course with Ryedale Canine Agility, who will welcome dogs of all ages and abilities.

All activities during the Dog Festival are included in the cost of a standard admission ticket.

Natural England Activity Days at Scampston Hall

Scampston’s Learning and Heritage Centre in the Conservatory has a jam-packed programme of events this summer, all in collaboration with Natural England. Each activity day aims to encourage children to get outdoors and explore the natural world around us. From owls to beetles, newts to pond skippers, there’s plenty to uncover in the grounds of Scampston Estate.

Children love swimming outdoors, but swimming in the sea, rivers and lakes is very different to swimming in a pool. Swim safe offers a unique oppourtunity for children aged between 7-14 year olds to learn how to keep themselves safe when swimming outdoors and what to do if they get into trouble.
Take part in a fun, interactive practical Swim Safe session at North Bay, Scarborough and learn all about how to stay safe by the sea.
Each hour long session is completely free and included safety advice provided by qualified lifeguards and up to 30 minutes in-water tuition with accredited swimming teachers.

Hidden Horizons – Fossil Hunting

Join in for a fossil hunting trip at Cayton Bay, Reighton Sands, Runswick Bay and Boggle Hole. Each trip is different, but we should find a wide range of fossils from the Jurassic, around 160 million years ago.
These events are suitable for all the family as the access is very easy. We do suggest wellies or stout footwear and a bag or bucket to put your finds in. As part of your ticket you will receive a FREE Beach Finds Guide.

Teddy Bears’ Picnics with Scarborough Spa Orchestra

We will be hosting a Picnic outside in the Suncourt every Tuesday afternoon from 5 June-11 September on Tuesday afternoons at 1.30pm.

The concerts are aimed at introducing young children to music and musical activities.

A great opportunity for everyone to get involved- sing along, play along and dance along with the Spa Orchestra- The UK’s last remaining professional seaside orchestra.

Lots of audience participation and a chance to look at the musicial instruments and how they work.

Don’t forget Teddy for 90 minutes of musical fun!
