Sledmere’s 18th Century stables renovation creating state-of-the-art Café, function rooms and farm shop.

Sledmere’s sensational new look!

The eighteenth-century stable block at Sledmere House has a long and rich history, and this Spring sees it about to reveal a sensational new look! From Tuesday 18th May, as well as seeing the heads of Shire horses looking over their loose box doors, visitors will be able to experience fantastic new modern facilities as part of a state-of-the-art renovation to the building which has created extended the dining, shopping and meeting spaces.

 

Lauren Fenwick, Marketing Manager says “The planning has been years in the process and the need for more dining space in particular, has been highlighted by our ever-increasing visitor numbers. By creating more space in the kitchen and café and adding new function rooms, we can now host parties and celebrations as well as more diverse activities such as classes, community activities and office meetings.”

 

The project, which was begun in January 2020 and has continued despite the logistical challenges presented by the pandemic in the past year, has benefited from funding from the Rural Development Programme for England.  This has allowed the team to renovate the historic 18^th century stable block sensitively, retaining and enhancing many of the period and heritage features.

 

Enjoying the prospect of the newly expanded kitchen spaces, is café manager Tom Dodgson “it will be fantastic to be able to cater for different events and bring a new menu into the café, the kitchen is state of the art and will mean that we can create more seasonal dishes using locally sourced produce.”

 

Visitors can reserve a table at the licensed restaurant by calling 01377 236637 with bookings also now open to hire one of the multi-purpose meeting rooms, complete with purpose-built WCs. And day visitors to the ever-popular Sledmere Farm House, Grounds and Farm Park have the enticing prospect of an extended farm shop and an attractive spacious café in which to relax and take refreshment.
