Treasure Island is full of pantomime fun with lots of singing, dancing, puppetry and adventure. The actors and actresses will certainly deserve their Christmas lunch this year! Let’s hope these intrepid explorers make it home in time….
We loved it! Henry and I haven’t been to The Round Theatre before – what a lovely place to take children. They can see and they are so involved in the whole performance! The actors also popped into the audience before it started which Henry loved, a quick selfie with Jim!
Henry was absorbed from the very start.
“I just loved the characters, especially Long John Silver and The Cheese man. The latter is very funny as he is crackers about cheese so he sings “We Wish you a Merry Cheesemas”
The songs were brilliant! The actors and actresses never cease to amaze me how they can play so many musical instruments as well as act their part! Henry’s favourite song was “five men on a dead mans chest”.
The set and the costumes are second to none. The rigging of the boat scene was my favourite as it is a great spectacle.
Here, we have to mention, Susan the mechanical crab, who was invented by Cheeseman, Henry describes her – “those frightening metal claws come out snapping when the pirates come and she has Big beady eyes the size of footballs!”
There are plenty of jokes throughout, with many panto elements plus a few surprises along the way! And as with all children (and most adults) some clean toilet humour is always fun, Kenny the Seagull ensures Long John Silver gets his comeuppance!
A lovely show to enjoy with all the family this Christmas!
