The aim was to make 2,000 angels to hang from the ceiling of St Mary’s, Sandsend, at the start of Advent (November 28th).’
It has involved people of all ages – children, adults, lunch clubs, over 85s.
Children of Lythe School are making salt dough angels which they will take to St Mary’s to put on the Christmas tree.
They have had angel tea parties where all ages (20 – 87yrs) have made angels.
It really has brought the whole community together.
2,000 angels by candlelight will open on Friday 26th Nov 5-7pm, tickets available.
Then at 6pm on 28th Nov, the Archdeacon of Cleveland will visit to bless the angels at a service.
Also to knit/sew/crocket angels to distribute in the villages in bags with details of Christmas services (C of E, RC, Methodist), again all ages and communities involved.
