With Christmas over, book a family break to find your inner calm in 2020…..A sunlit forest glade, birdsong on the breeze, absolute peace. Forests to explore, rivers to canoe, and mountains to climb. The time, the space, the people you love. On a Forest Holidays short break in the UK, freedom awaits…and you can now enjoy up to 20% off your next family holiday, plus complimentary early check-in with our Mumbler offer! Reconnecting with nature in the forest has a multitude of benefits, including:
1. Nature is a natural stress-buster
Interacting with nature is fantastic for mental health and wellbeing. From long walks through the trees with your family, to deep breaths of crisp winter air – every minute you spend immersing yourself in nature and enjoying a break from technology helps restore much needed balance to your mind and means you can enjoy quality family time
2. Plenty of sunshine
Spend even a few minutes outside, enjoying the winter sunshine and you’ll soon feel a lift in your spirits.
3. Plenty of laughter
Give each person in the family a turn to choose an activity that everyone can enjoy together….in the forest, you will find an activity for all ages. You will have plenty of laughter which relaxes the body, boosts the immune system, triggers the release of endorphins, and even burns calories. Parents will lose that “frazzled” feeling!
4. Learn something new
Learning new things is not only a great way to distract your mind from worry, it also keeps your brain active. Join our Forest Ranger to learn forest survival skills, build shelters, forage for food and make pine needle tea.
If you could distil the essence of childhood into a single activity, it would probably be den-building. One of the most popular Forest Ranger activities at Forest Holidays, it is fun, absorbing, and a true team endeavour. Bill, the Ranger at Keldy tells us more.
5. Activity for the body and mind
Cycling, hiking, climbing, gorge walking, horse riding – we have a wide range of activities you can experience on an adventure holiday, so you’re bound to find something that you’ll enjoy. There is something for everyone, little ones who want to splash in puddles and look at the squirrels, older children who want to explore the forest by bike and build dens or adults who just want to relax and enjoy the peace.
6. Healthy body, healthy mind
Our forest locations all source food from local suppliers, and you’ll also find plenty of farm shops nearby where you can buy fresh local produce for a delicious seasonal soup, back in your cabin. So you will come home feeling much better. There is also something special about eating together as a family.
7. Sleep your way to stress relief
On a break in the forest, within a day away from your normal routine, breathing fresh forest air and enjoying some adventures along the woodland paths, a restful night’s sleep is almost guaranteed. By the time you leave, you will be rested and renewed.
8. Time for yourself
Enjoying nature doesn’t need to mean leaving modern life behind! Our cabins are extremely comfortable and all complete with your own private outdoor hot tub. After the day’s activities, put some logs on the wood burner and play a board game or two, or get the popcorn ready and put your feet up for a cosy family movie night. And, once the children are fast asleep in bed, you can enjoy the peace of the forest at night as you sit out in your hot tub, gazing at the stars.
