We visited Playdale Farm Park just before the bank holiday in April whilst visiting relatives in Scarborough and thought it was so packed with things for Mini Mumblers to do that it was worth recommending!
Located in Cayton, it’s a stone’s throw from Scarborough and you can easily spend hours and hours letting Playdale entertain the kids. There’s a large indoor play area, including soft play, outdoor play areas, a big sand pit area, hay bale stacks, zip wires, frisbee golf, summer luge track, go-karting track AND a range of animals to feed and hold.
We started off by feeding some of the animals as this was the first thing my two girls spotted when we arrived. Lots of goats, sheep, lambs and giant pigs to see and feed, and they have set times for holding chicks and guinea pigs (we got completely distracted by other activities so forgot to go back for the chick handling!). Good hand washing facilities are provided everywhere on site and there are lots of reminders to do this after feeding or petting any of the animals.
Next we went to the bigger of the outdoor play areas as the weather was so lovely, but so many of the areas are covered that I really don’t think it would matter if it was a bit rainy. Of course the Mini Mumblers decided they were starving hungry so managed to eat all the sandwiches we had packed just before 11am on the benches around the play area (lots of spaces to stop and have a picnic if you take your own food!). There is a café that serves hot and cold food, plus children’s meals, and a kiosk that is open for hot and cold drinks and snacks in the summer holidays…just in case your children also eat every possible food item you pack within an hour of arrival!
We spent quite a long time playing on go-karts, the luge and frisbee golf and loved sitting in the sunshine whilst the kids had fun running around. The whole of Playdale Farm Park is so spacious that even though it was the school holidays and there were lots of people there, it didn’t feel cramped or too busy. My Mini Mumblers are 4.5 years and 2-years-old and it was easy to keep them entertained, but we saw plenty of families with older children that were also having a great time – a fab place for all ages!
We would really recommend Playdale Farm Park as a very reasonably priced, family-friendly place to spend the day with your Mini Mumblers and hope to return next time we’re visiting Scarborough.
