Step into Jack’s Mini Village and you will immediately be transformed into Village Life where you can become any number of different people – a baker – a stylist – a builder – a doctor, and many more besides.

The size and level of detail will amaze you, from the Mini Village credit card (which each child gets to keep) to the “working” checkout counters, washing machine and ovens, to the awesome ice cream van. Captain Cook Memorial Museum

The Captain Cook Memorial Museum is in the 17th century house on Whitby’s harbour where the young James Cook lodged as apprentice in 1746. It was here Captain Cook trained as a seaman, leading to his epic voyages of discovery.

Escape Room, Scarborough

Flower of May Indoor Swimming Pool

Indoor swimming poor at The Flower of May Holiday Site is open to the public as well. As well as the heated indoor pool there is also designated splash sessions where children can use all the supplied inflatables.

The Scarborough Fair Collection

Opens April 2023 and this year will be open Wed-Sat, 10am-4pm

The Scarborough Fair Collection hosts a magnificent working collection of Vintage Cars, Steam Engines, Vintage Fairground Rides and Mechanical Organs topped off with a ‘Mighty’ Wurlitzer Organ in our spacious ballroom. Set in the scenic grounds of the Flower of May Holiday Park on the coast road between Scarborough and Filey.

Here at the museum we have a well stocked tea bar providing, sandwiches, cakes and lavish afternoon teas. Sit in the ballroom and be entertained by the vintage dance organs while you eat.

Once you’ve had a look around the museum, make the most of your day and take the little one(s) swimming too! The indoor pool on the Flower of May is open to the public!

WHISH Sensory Room

A multi-sensory sensory room is a stimulating environment aimed at developing coordination, motor skills, colour recognition, communication and sensory skills for children and adults with sensory impairments. Up to 4 children at a time can use the room.  The facilities can be used passively or interactively to:

  • calm overactive behaviours
  • relax and bond with children / parents / carers
  • engage or stimulate the senses to learn
  • control new movements or recover / re-learn / rehabilitate

Time slots available to book from Monday to Friday, between 10am and 4pm

The sensory room is always available but needs to be booked.

People who become members who have a child with hidden impairments the cost for membership is £10 per year per family, all the family members can take part in anything.

If people are not members and want to book out the sensory room the charge is £20 per session.

Whitby Museum

Visiting Whitby Museum is a good indoor activity for older children. It is home to many fascinating collections. The Archaeology Collection displays Bronze Age weapons and Roman lamps amongst other things. The Captain Cook collection contains many historically important artifacts, that illustrate his association with Whitby and events of his voyages (1768-1779). The museum houses one of the best collections of Jet artifacts in the world. There are many examples of jewellery (broaches and pendants), a chess table and even a model of Whitby Abbey!
